Next Sunday January 11
Pastor Paul will continue our study of 2 Peter 1:12-21, looking at how we can be confident of the truth of God’s revelation to us in the scriptures.
Due to a back-up at the printer, the 2015 tithe envelopes have been delayed and are scheduled to arrive this week. Until they arrive, please use a yellow pew envelope and make sure to put your name on it! Thank you!
West Side Goes Green
It’s the LAW! Starting January 1, we must separate our recyclables (paper/plastic/glass) and compostables (food waste, paper cups and plates) from our normal garbage. Please look for the new bins and signs detailing what goes where. Thanks for your support (and help us avoid the hefty fines assessed to commercial properties).
Hope Place Tour
Saturday, January 10, 11am – Join us for an unforgettable tour of Hope Place, a women and children’s shelter run by Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. See the inner workings of a place which offers homeless women hope, opportunity and practical skills to rebuild broken lives through programs in addiction recovery, domestic violence, job training, and discipleship. Experience inspiration as you hear firsthand from someone whose life was changed by the Mission. Don’t miss it! Adults (and adults with their children) are welcome to join in. Email Luke Crook at LukeC@wspc.org if you want to come. Meet at West Side at 10:30am and we’ll carpool down!
Assist our ESL outreach program by keeping track of paperwork and checking in class members on Mondays, 6-7pm, starting January 12 at High Point Neighborhood House (6400 Sylvan Way SW, 98126). The program lasts 8 weeks. Call Janet Rice (295-3238).
Our West Side Garage Sale is coming!!
As we end this holiday season, take some time to find gently used and clean treasures you no longer need. In three short weeks we will begin collecting donations for our huge sale in March. Proceeds go to offset the cost of the Memorial Day youth retreat.

West Side Presbyterian
A PC(USA) church in the Fellowship of Presbyterians
Why are these relationships important and what it will mean for us as we move ahead as a church?
As an evangelical congregation located in West Seattle, we strive to stay focused on our mission: making disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek to love our city and to be servants and missionaries right here in our community. We are also part of a denomination (the PC(USA)) and members of an evangelical movement of churches (the Fellowship of Presbyterians (FOP)). PC(USA) helps us drive mission locally through a network of Presbyterian churches; the FOP provides focus and accountability to our growth.
This January we are taking three Sundays to engage in open discussions about what it means to be a part of both organizations and how our engagement helps West Side pursue our mission.
Today – Scott Lumsden, the Executive Presbyter of the Seattle Presbytery, will share his vision for the Seattle Presbytery and its relationship with West Side.
January 11 – Luke Crook, our Associate Pastor, will share insights on what West Side’s participation in the Fellowship of Presbyterians will mean for us this coming year and years to come.
January 18 – Scott Mann, an Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue and current Moderator of the Seattle Presbytery, will be with us. He has been the most significant leader and voice in the Seattle Presbytery for the Fellowship of Presbyterians and for the cause of evangelicals in our denomination. He will share his vision for the evangelical movement within the PC(USA) and what the implications for that could be for churches like West Side.
