Announcements for Sunday, June 11

Sunday July 2, 11am-2pm

Breakfast, lunch or picnic? How about all three! Please come celebrate a summer Brunch-Nic at West Side!  The menu includes breakfast burritos, bacon, pancakes, grilled bratwurst, BBQ pulled pork and more! You bring the dessert! See the church transformed after the 9:30am Worship Service into our very own West Side park where we will meet new members and welcome VBS families and friends.  For more information or if you want to help, email Madeline May at

The Worship & Music team of West Side’s Mission Study wants your input! Because the Congregational Survey indicated there is interest in a worship service of another style, we are seeking more feedback from a broad cross-section of the congregation. We will facilitate focus groups of 9, with 3 participants from each age demographic and 1-2 high school students, to discuss a set of questions about how you have experienced worship.

If you sign up online we will send you an email to confirm your time and location for one of the following times or you may sign up at the Welcome Center this morning.
• 9:30am Sunday June 11
• 12:15pm Sunday June 11
• 9:30am Sunday June 18
• 12:15pm Sunday June 18

The Worship & Music Mission Study team is led by Elders Kenny Kramer and Nick Upton, and PNC member Joshua Kutz.

Stuff – We are furnishing a cabin and need a mounted king salmon (or another large NW fish) and a long-handled metal detector. Contact Kris at if you have any of these items.

More Adult Helpers – There are various tasks to be done June 27-30. Register to help on our website

The youth mission trip to the Dominican Republic is less than a month away! We will be serving with Kids Alive in Caraballo, a small village on the north coast of the DR. It is home to about 1500 people, many of whom are Haitian immigrants and living in poverty. Kids Alive has given us a list of school and medical supplies that they need there. Can you help us? A sample of Items needed include school supplies (pens, pencils, scissors, tape); medical supplies (children’s and adult Tylenol, small medical gloves, alcohol pads). A complete donation list is available in the Welcome Center. Donations must be received by July 1.

A couple suspected of making thefts of purses and computer equipment at West Seattle churches last fall showed up twice at a local church recently. Please do not leave any valuables in coats left in the church closet and always be mindful of your purses. Copies of pictures of the suspected couple are in the Welcome Center. If you see anything, please contact a staff person.

Pray For West Siders and Their Families in the Military.
Pray for the Pastor Nominating Committee elected May 14:  Katie Batts, Rick Boogaard, Jill Campbell, Sid Hoagland, John Jacobs, Josh Kutz, Dolores Latham, Hugh MacLean and Elaine McMinn.
Pray for all those involved with the Church Mission Study as they listen for the Lord’s leading in developing the study.
Pray for our Church Nominating Committee as they continue to call on individuals to serve as deacons and elders.

Christianity Explored: Investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics by exploring who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible; you won’t be asked to read aloud, pray or sing; and, you can ask any question you want!      Pastor Jesse, Lewis Hall
The Bruised Reed: Isaiah 42:3 and Matt. 12:20 read “a bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not quench.”  What a beautiful image for how Christ always treats his people!  This class will be an in-depth exploration of these passages of scripture supplemented by a classic book of the same title.      Greg Hjort, Chapel
