Announcements for Sunday, June 18

WORSHIP & MUSIC MISSION STUDY NEEDS INPUT

Your responses in the Congregational Survey indicated a desire for improvements in our worship services. To determine what changes West Siders want, the Worship & Music Mission Study team is putting together focus groups who represent the 4 age groups of our congregation and asking for their feedback. We are looking at the future of West Side’s worship experience. If you want a voice in that discussion, sign up online at our website www.wspc.org or at the Welcome Center Sunday morning. Space is limited as only 12 people will be in each time slot, 3 from each age group. The groups will meet
• 9:30am Sunday June 18
• 12:15pm Sunday June 18
• 9:30am Sunday June 25
The Worship & Music Mission Study team is led by Elders Kenny Kramer and Nick Upton, and PNC member Joshua Kutz.

ADULT CLASSES @ 9:40am

Christianity Explored: Investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics by exploring who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible; you won’t be asked to read aloud, pray or sing; and, you can ask any question you want! Pastor Jesse, Lewis Hall

The Bruised Reed: Isaiah 42:3 and Matt. 12:20 read “a bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not quench.” What a beautiful image for how Christ always treats his people! This class will be an in-depth exploration of these passages of scripture supplemented by a classic book of the same title. Greg Hjort, Chapel

ADULT CLASSES @ 10:40am (Starting July 9)

July 9 – Video – ORIGIN: Unlocking the Mystery of Life, produced by Illustra Media, examines a question that has baffled science for centuries: How did life on earth begin?

SERVICE NOTES

Leading Worship: The Reverend Ron Rice is our Parish Associate, assisting with Pastoral Care.
Assisting in Worship: Nick Upton is a Software Engineer at Zillow. He is an elder in the Spiritual Life department.
Flowers today are from Sid and Betty Hoagland, thanking God for 36 years of joyous marriage and 42 years of lots of fun!
Pastor Shari and Pastor Jesse Away Today: Pastor Shari is spending some special time today with out of town family. Pastor Jesse, with the permission of Session, is serving communion at John Knox Presbyterian Church. Both will return next week.
Youth / Vacation Bible School Big Screen Monitors: As part of a previously budgeted overhaul of our youth programs, large screen monitors have been purchased and have been installed at the front of the Sanctuary in time for Vacation Bible School starting June 27. The monitors will remain up through the summer and may be used occasionally during worship to display printed material like responsive readings, Scripture, and the songs we insert into the bulletin, which will reduce our printing and labor costs. At the end of the summer, the screens will be placed into 2 of the classrooms. West Siders told us in the congregational survey that we need to reach out to young families in our community. Updated technology, well used, can be a big help in that endeavor. Please pray that as we make use of these monitors this summer, we learn what options might work for West Side in the future.
