WOMEN’S ENSEMBLE: 1 REHEARSAL – 1 WORSHIP SERVICE

George Steward needs a big turnout of ladies to sing special music for the 9:30am worship service on August 27. Rehearse Thursday, August 24 at 7:15 pm in the Sanctuary; sing Sunday standing on the main floor and lower front steps. Contact George (GeorgeS@wspc.org; 206-935-4477) and bring your friends!

NEW FALL WORSHIP & CLASS SCHEDULE

Starting September 10

  •   Worship services at 9:00am and 10:30 am.
  •  Adult Christian Education classes offered during each service and a third class midweek. The first midweek class is “Parenting the  Love & Logic Way.”
  •  Children’s and Youth Sunday School at 9:00am.
  •  Children’s Message and Churchtime at the 10:30am service.

This new schedule comes in response to the congregational survey prioritizing outreach to families with children and youth.  Current research shows their desire to attend church and Christian education between 9:00-11:30am. Session is grateful for all the input which helped us make this decision.

While our time frames for Sunday morning worship and learning are changing, our commitment to Gospel centered worship, discipleship, and fellowship is unchanging.  Thank you to all of our dedicated worship leaders, teachers, fellowship hosts, and everyone making adjustments to help us strengthen our community.

WELCOME CENTER – Thursdays

A person is needed to be in the Welcome Center on Thursday afternoons  from 12:30pm until 4:00pm. Training will be provided. Please contact Lilliana Ryckman.

SUMMER CLASSES @ 10:40am in Howell Auditorium

Today – Chitra Hanstad, Director of World Relief. World Relief, the arm of the National Association of Evangelicals, has for 70 years empowered the local church to serve the most vulnerable. They are the largest refugee resettlement agency in Washington. West Side has supported their amazing immigration detention ministry at the federal INS prison in Tacoma for years. Thirty-seven detainees from 8 countries lead 17 Bible studies there in the detention center. Last year 440 men and women were baptized and 1540 accepted Christ.

August 20 – Bruce and Christy Graham.  Bruce is the Senior Associate Director of Frontier Ventures in Pasadena, formerly the US Center for World Mission, founded by Ralph Winter. Christy heads the Personnel Office, overseeing 100+ staff. The Grahams also have a longtime ministry in India where Bruce has developed a Biblical Story Curriculum to aid Indian Christians in outreach. It has been at least 4 years since the Grahams have been able to be with us, so don’t miss their presentation.

August 27 – Susie Tucker Boer, Faith Heroines Alive.  Susie portrays  Corrie Ten Boom, the famous Dutch heroine of World War II and author of The Hiding Place. Her performances are always insightful and a delight!
