500 YEARS: FROM THE WITTENBURG DOOR TO OUR FRONT DOOR
Each Sunday from today through November 5, West Side will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation of the church by becoming better acquainted with Reformed Theology and how it is worked out in the lives of people who are saved by grace. On Sunday October 29, you are invited to bring a Bible from home, perhaps a family Bible, to share in acknowledging the Reformation’s impact through the printing of Scripture.
CONGREGATIONAL FUNDING GUIDE HEARING
Our next meeting to review West Side’s financials and hear about plans for the coming year will be in the Chapel this Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30pm. All are invited to attend.
SEPTEMBER FINANCIAL UPDATE
Thank you for your continued support of West Side. This level of giving represents 76% of our year-to-date Funding Guide, which is considerably less than previous years. We are barely able to meet the fixed costs of our staff, facilities and local ministry efforts, and will not be able to fully support our missionaries. Please continue to prayerfully consider your contributions to help us make disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Unified Giving $ 730,149
Funding Guide $ 956,650
Difference ($ 226,501)
WEST SIDE SPECIAL PEOPLE
Special People will meet at 2:00pm in Howell Auditorium for dinner, fellowship and a presentation by John Hawkins on his involvement with people who have autism. Thanks to all our faithful volunteers.
THANKS FROM THE STAFF
We were absolutely amazed and humbled by your thoughtfulness this past week – balloons, flowers, amazing foodstuffs, your notes of thanks and encouragement. We are so grateful to not only share with you our professional lives, but also our personal ones by being part of this wonderful family. Your Church Staff
DATE NIGHT WITH A PURPOSE
Date Night with a P allows couples the opportunity to get out on a date (with thought-provoking questions to discuss) while their kids enjoy a safe and fun evening at West Side. Our next date night is Friday, October 27. Reserve your spot with Stacy (206-935-4477; email@example.com) by Tuesday, October 24.
DEACONS’ THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Every year, Deacons provide food baskets to several West Side families and individuals. Collection boxes for non-perishable items will be available in the Narthex starting Sunday, November 5. Financial donations for fresh items (checks to WSPC marked “Thanksgiving Baskets”) are also welcome.
CHRISTIAN MUSIC CONCERT
West Side and John Knox Presbyterian are partnering to host Matthew Smith (Indelible Grace) in a solo concert at John Knox on Sunday, November 5, 6:30pm. Matthew is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who writes new melodies to centuries-old hymn texts, helping guide people into emotionally honest worship. He is a founding member of the Indelible Grace community, whose work has drawn acclaim across denominational lines and is used in churches around the world. Advance purchase tickets are only $10 and are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3091126.
YOUTH WISE MENTORING GALA
Youth Wise Mentoring Gala is having their Gala Friday, October 27, 6-9 pm at Seattle Pacific University. Youth Wise trains mentors and matches them with at-risk youth.
