Change in Worship, Sunday School Times in December
Starting December 3, we will have only one Sunday worship service at 10am. Sunday School classes will be at 9am.
From Pastor Jesse, Interim Associate Pastor
It has been my privilege to have been in ministry with you as your Interim Associate Pastor these past two years. On December 31, my contract with Session in this role ends. In looking back, there are numerous highlights of our ministry together that I will always remember and treasure. In looking forward, it is my sincere prayer and hope that you all embrace the adventure that awaits you. May God bless you richly!
Join with us to celebrate the gift of Jesse’s ministry at West Side on Sunday December 17th following worship.
No child should be forgotten at Christmas! Help WSPC purchase Christmas gifts for children who have a parent in prison. Between services next Sunday, December 3, look for the Angel Tree near the Welcome Desk to choose a child or contact Sandra Hiramatsu or Mike Morishima (206.938.2551).
Be Expectant This Advent Season!
Our Advent worship services in December are designed to support the theme of expectation of the Lord’s coming. Join us at 10am worship each Sunday as we use different ways to express our longing for Jesus’ birth and the joy He will give us.
Advent Devotionals are available on the information counter to help you prepare for this special season that begins December 3.
Women’s Christmas Banquet/Taproot Play
Women’s Christmas Banquet/Taproot Play is December 6, just 12 days away! Enjoy a scrumptious meal and the play, Improv in a Pear Tree. Balcony seating for anyone is also available. Tickets are $10 at the Welcome Center.
Outdoor Living Nativity
See Highline Christian Church (14859 1st Ave. S, Burien) publicly depict Christ’s birth in a 20 minute, narrated presentation with live actors and animals December 8 (7pm, 7:30pm, 8pm) and December 9 (6:30pm, 7pm, 7:30pm, 8pm). Covered seating (and hot chocolate) available.
Whitworth University Christmas Concert
Emmanuel: God with Us, will feature more than 100 student-musicians on Saturday, December 2 (7:30 pm) and Sunday, December 3 (2:00 pm) at First Presbyterian Church of Seattle, 1013 Eighth Ave. Tickets are available at the door: $20 general admission, $15 students and seniors (62-plus).
Stations of the Cross Project
For Lent, we are planning a Scripture-based special display in the chapel entitled The New Way of the Cross. Use your creative skills to illustrate one of the stations! Contact Bonnie Bennedsen (firstname.lastname@example.org, 206.351.5438).
Security Update on Locking Doors
Session has selected Dave Pimblett and Dan Phillips to review our security procedures. On Sundays, our doors will now be open:
Main Door: 8:30am – 12:00pm
ADA Door: 8:30am – 9:05am; 10:00am – 10:35am
Loading Bay Door: 8:30am – 9:05am; 10:00am – 10:35am
We will keep the congregation informed as plans are developed and implemented.
Sunday Morning Parking Request
Some of our attendees have had to go home without attending church because there was no parking close enough for their walking abilities. We ask all who are physically able to park in the Swedish West Seattle Clinic parking structures on California Avenue or at least a couple of blocks away from the church to allow more street parking for those with limited mobility. Thank you.
