WEST SIDE WOMEN & TAPROOT THEATRE

This year’s Women’s Annual Christmas Banquet is Wednesday, December 6. Starting with dinner at 6:00pm (Emcee: Shari Monson; head chef: Craig Monson), the evening culminates with a one hour performance by Taproot Theatre actors (aided by suggestions and participation from the audience) of Emily Shuel’s play, Improv in a Pear Tree. Join in the fun (literally) when newlyweds share their first Christmas together with the crazy people they call family and friends.

Tickets are $10 and will be on sale on Sundays November 12, 19, 26 and  December 3 at the Welcome Center.

ADVENTure – NOV. 18, 6-9pm

As we begin our countdown to Christmas, come celebrate the season with an Advent party for our entire West Side church family at our second annual ADVENTure Night! There will be Advent crafts, service opportunities, Christmas puzzles to work on, and a delicious dinner prepared by Madeline May and her crew of volunteers.

Please RSVP so we know how much food to prepare! Email stacy@wspc.org or call the offce @ 206-935-4477.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING & SOUP LUNCHEON

Our next Congregational Meeting will be held next Sunday, November 12, beginning at 11:45am with a soup luncheon followed by the business meeting. Join us as we enjoy fellowship and discuss plans for 2018.

We encourage attendees to provide desserts.

*We will be electing our 2018 Nominating Committee. If there is someone you would like to nominate, we encourage you to talk in advance to members regarding serving on this committee.

PROPOSED BYLAW AMENDMENTS ON THE AGENDA
Proposed by Nick Upton, Elder moderating Fellowship:
#1 Move items 3 and 4 from Article V, § D, “Outreach,” to § C, “Fellowship”
3. Provide greeters and guest book attendant to help identify and welcome new visitors
4. Maintain a process for follow-up of newcomers
Reason: The Fellowship department is currently overseeing this ministry to Sunday morning visitors to our church, and this reflects our long history of readily welcoming newcomers into fellowship with us.
#2 Add a sentence to Article IV, § C, “Nominations”
The nominating committee may not themselves nominate someone from within the committee.
Reason: In order to free up the nominating committee from having to consider the question of nominating themselves. This would not prevent a member of the congregation from making such a nomination from the floor, per our bylaws.
Proposed by Sue Nealson, Elder moderating Discipleship:
#3 Rename the “Discipleship” department to “Christian Education” in Article V, § B, and throughout the document.
Reason: In order to more clearly describe the primary work and responsibility of the department.

RENEWAL MINISTRIES NW INTRODUCTION – NOV. 15

Are you weary and in need of refreshment? Do you desire to slow down, be still, spend some time with Jesus and hear his wisdom?

Renewal Ministries Northwest offers ministries that engage people in spiritual practices leading to deeper relationships with Jesus that refresh their souls and inspire them to do his work of transforming the world. Join us on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 7:00pm in the chapel to hear them share about their upcoming Advent and Epiphany half-day retreats and the 5-Month Ignatian Retreat that begins in January. Members of our own church will share some of their stories about how these ministries have brought renewed vitality to their faith in Christ. Dessert and refreshments will be served!
