Announcements for Sunday, Feb. 25

OUR NEW PROJECT COORDINATOR, Christina Hjort

Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, Chris will organize and communicate the status of projects that address WSPC’s stated goals (incorporating new people into church life, reaching families, etc.) and coordinate the diverse group of volunteers required for those projects. A JOURNEY THROUGH THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Stations of the Cross are a series of fourteen pictures or carvings depicting incidents that occurred to Jesus from his condemnation by Pilate to his crucifixion and burial. By viewing these representations along with scripture and meditation, we complete a mini-pilgrimage to honor Jesus’ experience His last day as a human and share in His Passion and Death.

Join us this Lenten season as we present the Stations of the Cross, each portrayed by different West Side artists.

Viewing times are:
Sundays — March 18, 25 (Palm), April 1 (Easter) — 8:00am-1:00pm
Tues, Wed, Thur — March 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 — 6:00pm–8:00pm

Hosts Needed – We need one person to be there to welcome any who come to our Stations of the Cross display in the chapel the last 2 weeks of Lent. Please sign up in the Welcome Center. Visiting hours are:
Sunday, March 18, 8am–1pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, March 20–22, 6-8pm
Palm Sunday, March 25, 8am–1pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, March 27–29, 6-8pm
Easter Sunday, March 25, 8am–1pm

SPECIAL PEOPLE

Special People meet today at 2:00pm in Howell Auditorium. After a meal and fellowship, we will be honored to have Karen Schroedel give a short talk about her leadership in moderating a Bible Study group here at West Side on Thursday mornings. Thank you, volunteers, for making these monthly programs possible.

March 18 and March 25 – Stations of the Cross – Details to follow

Spring, April 8–June 24 – The Book of Romans – Paul’s letter to Roman Christians offers us some of the best theology in the Bible coupled with practical application of the Gospel to our hearts, relationships, social involvement and work. Liturgical Colors – Lent is a season of 40 weekdays and six Sundays, beginning on Ash Wednesday and culminating in Holy Week. The color on the pulpit until Maundy Thursday (March 29) is purple (royalty) as we prepare through penitence, prayer and anticipation for the atoning death of Christ the King and His wondrous resurrection.

CHANGE IN CHILDREN’S SUNDAY PROGRAMS

To facilitate an easier transition between our Sunday children’s programs, during Lent children will begin Sunday School at 9:00am and flow directly into Church Time (3YO-2nd grade) at 10:00am. They will be led into the Sanctuary after the sermon to hear the children’s message and then rejoin their parents to participate in the offertory, communion, and the remainder of the service.
