Announcements for Sunday, July 15

Sign Up for City Serve!

We need a large crew to once again spruce up Highland Park Elementary on Saturday, August 18, 9-am–1pm. A variety of tasks ensures that everyone’s physical abilities can be utilized. A sign-up table is available in the Narthex. Contact Dick Ramsey RLRamz1@live.com for questions.

Special People Today

Special People and Friends from Lincoln Park will enjoy a meal, performance by violinist Caroline May, and special roses from the Hanson’s garden at 2:00pm in Howell Auditorium.

Wanted: Social Media Savvy

The Evening Service planning team needs a volunteer to set up our social media accounts and get us twittering! If you are interested, please email wspcevening@gmail.com.

Get Your Name Tags

Make it easier for our new Senior Pastor and others to get to know you by wearing your name tag. Checked the name tag rack and don’t have one? Mark the Name Tag box on your attendance card and we’ll make it!

Foster Kids School Supplies List

From July 22 through August 12, we are collecting new school supplies so these kids, who have already experienced painful life situations, can go to school knowing they at least “have the right stuff.” The list of needed items is now available in the Welcome Center. Contact Dee West west-d@comcast.net if you have any questions. Note: Go to our website www.wspc.org to see the letter DSHS wrote to us for the other items West Side has already provided!

Time to Say Goodbye

Pastor Shari’s last Sunday with us is July 22 and we will celebrate her with a special reception following the worship service. We hope you will stay to share in word and gesture your appreciation for what she has brought to us these past two years. Bring a card or prepare something to sign on one we will have available and join in a congregational farewell.

Welcome Dr. Keith Tanis

Session has hired Dr. Keith Tanis to serve as our bridge pastor until the new Senior Pastor is hired. A person whose spiritual gifts are leadership, teaching, and preaching in Presbyterian/Reformed tradition, Dr. Tanis has filled many roles: Executive Presbyter of Olympia Presbytery, where he coached pastors and churches to better reach their communities; Interim Pastor at Whitworth Presbyterian; Senior Pastor at several churches; and Director of Field Education at Calvin Theological Seminary. Keith received his M.Div. from Calvin Theological and his D.Min. from San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Tanis may look familiar. He preached at West Side at the beginning of this year and he and his family reside in West Seattle!
