The Fellowship Community At PCUSA General Assembly
The Fellowship Community, of which West Side is a member, noted that the spirit of PCUSA’s 223rd General Assembly (GA) held in St. Louis June 16–23 was one of forbearance and respect, with conservative churches repeatedly thanked for staying in the PCUSA and willing to engage issues in faithful ways. The Fellowship Community has provided a summary of GA outcomes significant to our church network, including topics like Israel/Palestine, sexuality issues, immigration and drug concerns and the future of PCUSA. Their summary article is available through a link on our website (wspc.org) and also in hard copy at our Welcome Center.
Welcome Dr. Keith Tanis
Session has hired Dr. Keith Tanis to serve as our bridge pastor until the new Senior Pastor is hired. Keith received his M.Div. from Calvin Theological and his D.Min. from San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Tanis may look familiar. Back-To-School Help For Foster Kids
For foster children, heading to a new school produces great anxiety: Will I fit in if I don’t have the right stuff? We can make a difference. Starting July 22 through August 12, we will collect new school supplies — backpacks, binders, pens, pencils and more – that will enable them to go to school with confidence. We’ll give you exact descriptions so you can look for the sales! Contact Dee West (206-258-2108) email@example.com. Note: Go to our website www.wspc.org to see the letter DSHS wrote to us for the other items West Side has already provided!

• That hearts would be open to God’s call on their lives
• That our team will be open and willing to engage with the broader MOVE community

• That they will “not come back unchanged”
Be sure to join us Sunday, July 22 at 9am as we report back to the congregation!

Scriptures Chosen to Honor Baptism: At baptism new members are invited to share a passage of scripture that is meaningful to them and their children. Here are the passages chosen by the Lynds family:
- Shaw: Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5
- Patrice: The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7
- Isabel: The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and the little child will lead them. Isaiah 11:6
- Emily: He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:2-5
