Today @ West Side
11:30am – Fellowship Meal / New Member Introduction – We continue our communion celebration today with a meal following our worship service. Break bread together as we meet our newest church family members when they are introduced by their sponsors!
7:00pm – West Side Library Book Club meets in the library. All who love to read and discuss books are welcome.
Preaching today is Reverend Keith Tanis, our Bridge Pastor. A person whose spiritual gifts are leadership, teaching and preaching, Dr. Tanis has filled many roles: Executive Presbyter of Olympia Presbytery, Interim Pastor at Whitworth Presbyterian, Senior Pastor at several churches, and director of Calvin Theological Seminary’s Field Education program for professional degree programs.
Assisting in Worship – Rick Boogaard is an auditor for Providence. He coordinates the Prayer Team, Communion servers, assists Special People ministry and is on the Pastor Nominating Committee.

Community Service = Great Satisfaction
City Serve August 18 – We all know children leave behind an amazing amount of evidence they were there – marks, fingerprints, spilled drinks, etc. West Side’s previous work parties cleaned up a large part of what accumulated at Highland Park Elementary School. Help us continue the work! Join us there (1012 SW Trenton St) on Saturday, August 18, 9am–1pm. Get the shirt, do the work, have lunch, go home happy.
Sign-up table at the Welcome Center after worship. Contact Dick Ramsey RLRamz1@live.com.
Vacation Bible School Shirts are missing!
If you have one, please return it (washed) to the church office. Thanks!
Sunday Education Class @ 9am
All are invited. There is a play area in the corner of Howell for children.
Today: A Moment with Keith – Dr. Keith Tanis, our Bridge Pastor, shares about himself and answers questions we have.
August 12: Dave Curtiss, responsible for church partnerships with the seven ministries of CRISTA, will describe World Concern’s ministry of disaster relief and humanitarian Christian work offering hope to villages in some of the most impoverished places on earth.
August 19: Dr. Larry and Dianne Burke will tell of their recent trip to Chad and Larry’s new assignment as Africa Director of Faith Comes By Hearing, a Wycliffe-related organization working with oral Bible translations for non-literary peoples.
Evening Worship Service / Meal August 19
We are excited about our upcoming third evening worship service on Sunday, August 19 at 5:00pm. This service will be held in Howell Auditorium (change of venue) and feature guest preacher Mark Mohrlang, Pastor of Sanctuary Church (Christian Reformed) that meets on Sundays at Taproot Theatre in Greenwood. Mark, a gifted musician (who, he says, used to have a lot of hair), is passionate about the church understanding the value and significance of living out their faith in their community – home, school and office. He is a Regional Coordinator for the Made To Flourish Network and leads a cohort with the Cascade Fellows. Mark received his M. Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary. We hope to see you here!
